Biography
Manuela Viscontini is a Senior Research Collaborator with the National Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunications (CNIT), Rome, Italy. She received the Laurea degree (cum laude) in Conservation of Cultural Heritage from the Università degli Studi della Tuscia, Viterbo, Italy, in 1997, and the Ph.D. degree in Art History (program Memory and Matter of Works of Art) from the same university in 2004. From May 2024 to April 2025 she was a Research Fellow with the Department of Humanities at Roma Tre University, where she led the logical design of relational databases and digital twins for the PRIN-2022 project “Roma e gli altri (300-1300)” and the CHANGES Spoke 8 initiative. Between 2004 and 2010 she held several research fellowships and contract-teaching appointments at the University of Tuscia, contributing to the Corpus and Atlante of Medieval Painting in Rome and pioneering 3D documentation workflows for wall-painting conservation.
Research
Her research interests include digital humanities for cultural heritage, 3D survey and modelling, integrated data management for complex humanities datasets, and the historiography and virtual reconstruction of medieval mural painting..
